When I was contacted by Annie from the fantastic Elope to Ireland about photographing an elopement at the incredible Waterford Castle I jumped at the chance and that was before I had even spoken with the couple. It all began with a novel boat ride across the river to the private island that houses the castle.

Upon arrival, I finally got to meet Greg, the most relaxed groom who was drinking in the amazing views from his window. Of course once I met Natalie I knew these two were going to be so much fun to photograph, she was so calm yet quietly excited for what was to come., explaining that they have been together for seven years having known each other since highschool back in Oklahoma and have a son, Hudson.

Natalie and Greg wanted to have a moment to themselves before the ceremony so after bringing Greg to the perfect spot we waited patiently as Natalie navigated through the muddy path for their First Look. After the initial shock, Greg embraced his soon-to-be wife and they both got to soak everything in before they walked back towards the castle to say their ‘I do’s’.

After a beautifully intimate ceremony which included a handfasting ritual, we explored the grounds of Waterford Castle together for their portraits. Even though the winter weather had well and truly set in along with plenty of rain, Natalie & Greg were such troopers. They both knew this was a once in a lifetime event, making the most of the surroundings for their photos and we had such a laugh!

Once inside and warmed up, Natalie & Greg surrounded by their closest family and friends danced together for the first time as husband & wife in front of the castle’s fireplace. This was such a fantastic day and was so true to Natalie & Greg’s relationship, I was so thankful to be able to be part of it.
