Speeches

If you have chosen to include family photos, once the drinks reception has started, we jump into those. These photos can be as formal or informal as you like, generally, these photos are for the parents and grandparents. It’s a beautiful record of who attended especially if family and friends have travelled far to be there. I allocate a maximum of 30 minutes for the family photos to ensure you get to spend time with your guests and enjoy your reception. In the lead up to the wedding, I’ll send you a family photo template which you can fill out with the groupings that you would like. This makes sure I can work as efficiently as possible on the day.

If you have chosen a package that includes your first dance, once dinner has finished, the dancefloor cleared, I’ll join you on the dancefloor capturing all the emotion, laughter, tears and joy that’ll come especially when your guests join you. I love getting into the middle of the dance floor capturing all of the action! I will typically stay for around 20 minutes of dancing or until I’m happy we have plenty of dancing shots.  

Family Portraits

Your potrait session is an opportunity for you and your partner to take a breather, be present on a day that will surely fly by. As we get to know each other, your relationship will guide my approach to your portrait session. If you are a happy go lucky couple and love to have a laugh, we’ll roll with that. If you adore getting close and romantic, we’ll embrace that. This is a collaboration so the more you put in, the more you will get out, I definitely encourage you to bring any ideas you may have too! 

Portraits

During the reception, I will mingle amongst the guests, catching moments between friends, family and people who may not have seen each other in years. Then, onto dinner, I prefer to sit away from the dining area, I won’t document you eating, don’t worry! For the speeches, whether before, during or after the meal, I photograph you and your partner, your family and friends making the speeches and the guests’ reactions. 

During the ceremony, I will be quietly navigating the ceremony space, documenting you as you tie the knot along with the little details that may go unnoticed. I will be photographing the guests, their inside jokes, laughter and excitement as they witness this next chapter in your journey together.

Getting Ready

My approach to documenting weddings is to take a step back and capture the day as it unfolds naturally. I love to see your wedding photographs almost like a film, I’ll take exterior shots of the venue, any little details that give a fully formed picture of the day. This creates a beautiful thread from getting ready in the morning all the way through until guests are filling the dancefloor.
During the preparations, I will be a fly on the wall, quietly documenting the nervous excitement, emotional toasts and dressing up. During this time I may guide you into beautiful light or against an interesting backdrop.
